I am currently homeschooling my two children (10 & 11 yo) in British Columbia and I know very little about the provincial and First Nations history here. I'm originally from the Midwest in the US and needed something that was in-depth with historical figures, First Nations (Indigenous) history & geography, and I loved this book so much I bought the entire series. My kids really enjoy the well-written and interesting stories, and at the end of each 'chapter', the author breaks down what is actually true from the story. She has researched everything so carefully and the history of this place has fully come alive to us! We've been to some of the areas mentioned in the stories which just makes it more real to my kids, too. We are big readers (on an individual level, and do many family read alouds together) and this book (and the others in the series) will be remembered as some of our favorites from the year. Highly recommended!
