My SO has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Because I'm the cook, I have to re-learn!

This is a very informative book! My husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes and what a shock! I had no idea how to cook differently so my husband would be happy with a restricted diet! This book is very informative and helps a newly diagnosed person understand how to look at food differently. It gives you the recipes helps you make a meal plan and what you need to get from the market to make the food for a week at a time! This has really helped me! I love the book and I can’t wait to start the meal planning and make the proper foods my husband can enjoy and not feel like his meals are restricted!

I'm not diabetic, but I am aware that eating with a balance of protein, carbs and fat is good for any body, and diabetic cookbooks tend to keep that in mind with their recipes. I spotted this book on sale and decided to check it out and I am really glad I did.The recipes are easy to follow with easy to buy ingredients and still manage to be creative and flavorful. I've gotten a bit less ambitious with cooking than I was in my 20's, and prefer to prepare quick, simple meals that still taste good, and this cookbook delivers just that.It has chapters on: Breakfast (peach pancakes, pumpkin-peanut muffins, white bean-oat waffles, etc.)Meal-Size Salads (meatless taco salad, lentil apple salad, curried chicken salad, etc.)Soups & Stews (white bean soup, african peanut stew, kickin' chili, etc.)Comfort Classics (mock mac & cheese, eggplant lasagna, lazy turkey potpie, etc.)Vegetarian Entrees (stuffed Acorn Squash, gingered tofu & greens, Seitan curry, etc.)Chicken & Fish entrees (lemon-herb chicken, blackened pollock, fish tacos, etc.)Pork & Beef entrees ( chinese spareribs, sage-parmesan pork chops, beef stew, etc.)Sides & Staples (cauliflower mashed potatoes, broccoli with pine nuts, tofu-cilantro sauce, etc.)As you can see, the recipes are interesting and varied and I'm looking forward to trying more of the delicious and nutritionally balanced meals.

I've recently had to make a lot of changes to my diet due to medical issues. I'm not diabetic, but the diet I need to follow is very close to the diet someone who is diabetic should be following, so I decided to give this book a try. While it's portioned for two people I double the recipes as there are three of us and my husband eats a lot.It's really important to me that I be able to provide meals that meet my medical needs, but still taste good for my family. There are 126 recipes in this book and I would say I can easily make half of these for my family without feeling like I am sacrificing taste. My absolutely favorite recipes are the comfort classics. They're are a lot of great recipes that taste delicious, and just put a healthy spin on some of our favorite family recipes.Some of the recipes are a little much for me, not really my type of food, but there are more than enough recipes to make this book worth it for me. There are also some delicious desserts that I'm really looking forward to trying out.I received this book for free in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

The portions are actually quite generous here, and the use of lots of different spices make the recipes very tasty and not so monotonous. I just enjoyed sitting down and reading through at first, then went back and "bookmarked" (Kindle Gal here....) the ones I want to use first. My faves are the "packet meals" and all the yummy roasted veggie recipes. I have a veggie-hater in my house. ("I don't eat green food!!") But we're both gobbling up the roasted veggies from this book. I highly recommend it.

This book isn't just a cookbook, it's also a guidebook on how to manage diabetes through diet. I don't currently have diabetes, but I'm prediabetic, and so I'm concerned with how I can change my diet to reduce my chances of becoming diabetic while also improving my overall health. The recipes in the book aren't too committed, and since they're "for two" they are great for singles and couples, but most are easily doubled for families. But what I really liked were the lists. For example, the "Top 10 Ingredients" to have on hand is a super handy tool, because what I really need from my cookbooks is something that will make shopping and cooking easier, especially when it's new. So not only does this book have recipes that help you manage diabetes with diet, but it also helps you to always be prepared to make a diabetic-friendly meal even if you aren't following a recipe, which is much more useful in all honesty. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I'm excited to keep trying the recipes and discover more gems in the book. I received this book for review.

I loved this Diabetic Cookbook for two. I found it very informative especially for someone who has just found out they have diabetes. Whether you are type 1 diabetic or type 2 diabetic one of the major changes you will have to do is change the way you eat. Many people think that because you have diabetes you have to stop eating good, that is not the case. This book has many delicious recipes that will leave you feeling full and not feeling like you have to eat anything that tastes disgusting.I have several family members who are diabetic and picky children so getting dinner that everyone could enjoy could sometimes be quite tricky. One of my favorite meals in this book that my children liked as well as my diabetic family members was the Chicken Parmesan. The prep time only takes 30 minutes and the cook time was about an hour which was perfect for my busy schedule. Another great recipe to check out is the Lemon-Herb chicken. The lemon-herb chicken was also another winning meal in my house. The kids had no idea that they were eating a healthy meal and my aunt and uncle were able to enjoy the meal without having to substitute any of the meal or have to go and make their own meal. The conversion table at the back of the book is very helpful too. I was provided this book for review purposes.
