Excellent book. A Shakti Gawain classic. A must read for everyone. Especially the chapter on relationships.
This book is a MUST READ for anyone trying to access the inner self. It's so basic and all of it makes total sense. Translated into all literate countries! It will help you get to know all about intuition, how to access and how to use it. Most of my large adult family owns it!
Changed how I live my life and helped me to understand my role in The Universe. I have given away countless copies and then bought two more! This book inspired my reading every book by Shakti Gawain. Ready for some rereads!
After loaning my original copy of this book to a friend without its return, I have to say I was quite excited about this book's arrival! Upon ordering I was under the mistaken impression that the only change to the book was the artwork on the cover, however after reading the first chapter I realized this was not the case. Much to my chagrin Ms. Gawain has taken a second look and changed many things. Suffice it to say, my initial enthusiasm at returning this book to my library has diminished and I will continue my search for the first version.
This review regards the two cassette audio book.Let me first state, that I greatly dislike making a negative statement about someone's work. I have read and listened to many spiritual works by many different people and even if I disagree, I always appreciate the spirit of the person sharing their wisdom and experience with other humans.I am sad to say that I found this work is the worst I have encountered in all my searches. With blatant disregard for what may be of interest to a reasonably knowledgeable reader, she gushes on about what a bumbling ditz she considers herself to be but how wonderful people are to her in her life inspite of that, and how lucky she is that her books are selling so well. That's wonderful for her, but by the time she's finally through telling us that, she's used up the first of two tapes, with the only "information" given that you can achieve anything through visualization, even if you think of yourself as blundering through life. I don't even know how I could recommend this to a beginner. In the end, I just can't seem to find where the substance is. What she repeats from other people seems too watered down to be instructive.For serious help on living in the light yourself, you may want to check out Don Miguel Ruiz' 4 agreements (audio book).From another corner of the world, MSI's translation and interpretation of Patanjali's 4000 year old Sutras could potentially take you all the way and there's not many books I could say that about.Just my opinion... I hope this will be helpful to those on the same wavelength with me and ignored by everyone else. Maybe she'll pour a lot more work into her next book.
One of the best books I've every read! My journey to a spiritual and fulfilled life was made sweeter by reading every word.
I liked this book when I was younger, but in rereading it at age 43, I find it hard to trust. Shakti is certainly a humble author who is still searching (rather than resting on her past "discoveries"), but some of her ideas seem to be nothing more than convenient personal inventions. For example, she suggests that anyone we are in conflict with is simply a manifestation of an internal conflict that we have externalized in order to resolve. I find this theory offensive in its tidy resolution of the question of suffering. Would she really tell rape victims or abused children that they had manifested their perpetrators to resolve an inner conflict?I gave her 3 rather than 2 stars due to her deference to 12-step programs.
.The lessons in the book, as I see them, are following your intuition; learning who you really are, and the aspects of your personality that are holding you back.Self-knowledge is vital to success in life and this book helps you begin to learn who you are, truly; Not who you think you are.
